July 4th Event Cancellations Hampton Roads
 
Due to the weather conditions in Hampton Roads, many 4th of July events have been cancelled for Friday July 4, 2014 and most will be rescheduled for Saturday July 5, 2014. See the listing of cancellations below, Some events will resume as scheduled, some will be cancelled without being rescheduled. 
Chesapeake

CANCELED: South Norfolk Parade & Picnic in the Park
The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. July 4 from South Norfolk Baptist Church, 1101 Chesapeake Avenue, and ends at Lakeside Park, 1441 Bainbridge Blvd. Following the parade, an opening ceremony will be held for the picnic at Lakeside Park. Live entertainment will feature  Nate Sacks at 11 a.m., Don Butcher at 12:30 p.m. and The Jukes Boogie Band at 2 p.m. The picnic will also include children's games, story-time, a petting zoo, face-painting, paddleboat rides as well as a stilt walker and magician. Fourth at the Fort

The festivities begin 10 a.m. July 4 at Fort Monroe with a flag raising ceremony designed to honor the death of James Monroe. The U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble will perform in Continental Park, starting at 8 p.m. The fireworks will be launched from the top of the fortress wall  at 9:15 p.m. Free. Newport News
MOVED TO SATURDAY: Fourth of July Stars in the Sky
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. at Victory Landing Park, which is located at the end of the 23rd Street at the James River, with free children's rides, including giant slides and moon bounces. Music will be provided by the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band ensemble Full Spectrum, a high energy band playing a full range of popular music, at 8 p.m. and fireworks will go off over the James River at 9:30 p.m. Free. "Spirit of America" laser show
Celebrate America with a patriotic laser show featuring music by musicians like John Fogerty, Garth Brooks and  Lee Greenwood  in the planetarium at the Virginia Living Museum, 524 J. Fourth of July Great American Picnic & Fireworks
MOVED TO SATURDAY:  Feast on traditional all-American fare - hot dogs, hamburgers, seafood, corn on the cob and more - from 5 to 10 p.m. at Town Point Park. See the Olde James River Jazz Band at 5 p.m. and Strictly Business at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will go off at 9:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Call 441-2345 or visit www.festevents.org.
MOVED TO SATURDAY: A Shore Thing Concert and Independence Day Celebration

MOVED TO SATURDAY: Stars & Stripes Forever, Independence Day Fireworks
See the fireworks from the Portsmouth waterfront at 9:30 p.m. along Crawford Parkway and the Portsmouth Seawall.  At the Old Town Holiday Inn site, see the Forte Jazz Band at 4 p.m., The Original Rhondels at 5:45 p.m., the Tideweater Concert Band at 8:25 p.m. and a Caravan Stage Company performance at 10 p.m. Call 393-5111 or visit  www.portsvaevents.com.

Virginia Beach  
FIREWORKS AS WELL AS SYMPHONICITY AND THE VIRGINIA BEACH CHORALE MOVED TO SATURDAY. SOME BANDS WILL PLAY AS SCHDULED: Stars and Stripes Explosion
Fireworks, music and more at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. See the Chester B's MoTown Tribute Show at 8 p.m. on  the 17th Street Park; Bruce in the USA, a Springsteen tribute band,  at 8 p.m. at 24th Street Park;  52nd Street (a tribute to Billy Joel) and Captain Fantastic (a tribute to Elton John) at 8 p.m. at the 31st Street Park.
On Saturday, see the Tidewater Drive Band at 8 p.m. at the 17th Street Park, Symphonicity and the Virginia Beach Chorale at 8 p.m. at the 20th Street Stage on the Beach, and The English Channel at 8 p.m. at 24th Street Park.
